It doesn’t seem that long ago when Brazilians guitar slingers Todd Macalpine and Callum Williams met at a late night after hours jam session at the Parkview Hotel. 100 gigs later, the guys have released an album of originals, 3 film clips, and have several thousand facebook followers. They have played supports with oz rock legends The Black Sorrows and have more to be announced.
The band has just started recording the followup to their “Delta” album which has received airplay worldwide.
Singer/guitarist Todd Macalpine reflects “Not bad considering I had no intention of joining another band, I was happy doing solo shows and not having to deal with the politics of being in a band, but Callum, and original bass player Burkey (who was replaced after a few gigs by current player Steff) were on my case to do something. Award winning producer Jeff Cripps was the final piece of the puzzle when he moved to Cairns and called me looking for some production work in my studio, I said I wasn’t looking for anyone, then he let it drop that he was also a gun studio drummer. I told Crippsy, well, I know these guys.. we ended up having a jam, and 100 gigs later..”
After a few gigs, original bass player Burkey was replaced by current bassist Steff, and the lineup was complete.
The Brazilians will be playing their 100th show back where it all began, at the Parkview Tavern in Gordonvale on Friday the 26th of April.
The Brazilians will be then taking a month off live shows while drummer jeff cripps is in the U.S on a “Secret Mission” and the other guys work on new material and more recording.
